American University of Malta

The campus of the American University of Malta is housed in beautifully restored British-era dockyard buildings in Cospicua.

When the private university was established in 2015, the initial pitch was based on an expected amount of 4,000 students. Today, the student body is pretty small, but highly international.

Looking at their actual alumni network (on Linkedin) shows that the AUM is primarily a hub for non-EU students, e.g. from Nepal, India, the Middle East and North Africa.

The courses are engineering and management focused and include Software Engineering & Cybersecurity, Game Development, Business Administration and Accounting.

We usually pass by the campus on our way to DATE Art Café which is next door. The uni made the headlines this February for claiming a five-metre stretch of the sea in front of its campus as a private water space.

Hopefully, the dispute is resolved soon. We love the view from the cafe to the uni and the docks (with sailing boats).
