How to order from Amazon to Malta?

Since there is no local amazon.mt, ordering items to Malta requires a few workarounds. Delivery times, shipping costs and VAT adjustments depend on which European Amazon site you use.

Amazon.de vs. Amazon.it

I prefer Amazon.de over the Italian site. The main reason is language: the German site can be switched entirely to English, and their customer support is far more efficient for non-Italian speakers if a package goes missing. While shipping from Italy might occasionally be cheaper for heavy items, the German site has reliable English-speaking support.

VAT and Pricing

Prices in your cart will change once you reach the final checkout. Amazon automatically removes the local VAT (19% for Germany, 22% for Italy) and applies the Maltese 18% VAT. This usually results in a slight price drop for items coming from Germany or Italy.

Shipping Restrictions

Some sellers do not ship to Malta. If you encounter the "this item does not ship to Malta" message, you can use Maltapost SendOn. This service provides you with a forwarding address in Germany or Italy. You ship the item there and Maltapost handles the final leg to Malta for an additional fee.
